
Turning Point Organisation which was empaneled by the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Mon division as Implementing Support Agency (ISA) to facilitate constitution of Gram Panchayat i.e. village council/ WATSAN committee etc. conducted an information, education and communication awareness campaign as JJM support activity from November 30 in 30 villages under Mon district where Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) is being implemented.
According to a DIPR report, during the campaign, ISA highlighted that in order to implement JJM, the villagers should actively participate in implementation JJM schemes and contribute 5% in the form of labour, kind and cash which was pre-requisite for implementation of JJM schemes. It was also informed that they should have at least five women representatives in WATSAN committee for water quality monitoring and surveillance and to levy water user fee for sustainable Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of the scheme.
ISA said every new household constructed should have its own latrine and open defecation to be totally prohibited and every household should manage grey water from kitchen and toilet.
It advised villagers to pass resolutions to totally ban single-use plastic, littering and burning of plastic. ISA informed that community level awareness campaign on elimination of SUP would be launched.
The campaign was also carried out in villages where the scheme is currently ongoing.
