Docu-film on life of Rev. Imotemjen released

A documentary film “On the Lord’s work in the East” (life and calling of reverend Imotemjen Aier) was released at covenant Baptist Church, Dimapur, here on Friday.

The film was funded American Baptist International Ministries and produced by Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) with Highland dawn media, Nagaland. Speaking at the programme, NBCC general secretary, Rev. Dr Zelhou Keyho said that churches in Nagaland particularly had been connected to Baptist International Ministries (BIM) known as American International Foreign Mission, from the beginning until now. He informed that the celebration of the history of Christianity 150 years would be celebrated next year, after which Nagaland Baptist Church would be celebrating its existence right after ABAM on the theme “history”.

Speaking on the theme, Dr Zelhou clarified that the story of Christianity in Nagaland was not about Naga history but was about the history of Almighty God.

Rejoicing the presence of reverend Rev. Imotemjen Aier who he said was dedicated, committed and worked selflessly as a missionary, the reverend said that Rev. Aier had become not only a leader in the state but also worked at the national- international level to be entrusted for greater ministry in the region.  He pointed out that “sometimes we celebrate life after that death but for him it is more appropriate to celebrate life when we are active”.

On behalf of 6,78442 Baptist individual and 1654 Baptist Churches in the state, Dr Zelhou congratulated Rev. Imotemjen Aier and his wife for the life well lived and extending their missions to reach out to people.  Council of Baptist Churches North East India (CBCNEI) former general secretary, BIM missionary to USA, BIM consultant to East India and power of attorney, Rev. Imotemjen Aier also shared few words on his journey as a Christian missionary.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by highland dawn media, Wabang Moa and invocation was said by Nagaland Missions Movement (NMM) director Rev. Dr Andrew Semp.

It may be mentioned that Rev. Imotemjen Aier was working with ABAM and later worked for the CBCNEI as associate general secretary and general secretary for 21 years.

In the 80s, he was invited by American Baptist Foreign Mission (ABFM) to work as their mission to the USA. The mission to work with ABFM as their missionary from the North East to USA was one of first of its kind.

After having worked there for three years, Rev. Imotemjen was sent back as ABFM missionary to East India in the 90’s where he brought changes not only in the church and education but also in the technical education and in the social life of the people there.

Later, he worked as power of attorney for the international ministries under American ministries and retired at the age of 87 in the year 2018. Highland dawn media, Wabang Moa who chaired the programme informed that after further editing, the documentary film would be shared to all Christian and local channels.
