YUM celebrates golden jubilee

Yimkhiung Union Mokokchung (YUM) celebrated its golden jubilee on the theme “reflect rejoice re-envision” at the town hall, here on Thursday.

Speaking at the programme as special guest, chairman Nagaland Bio-Resource Mission, Thronghokiu said that Mokokchung was an important centre not only for education and healthcare facilities but also to carry out commercial activities for the Eastern Nagaland people. 

He appreciated the Aos for their kindness and hospitality towards Yimkhiung people and appealed for peaceful co-existence and unity among the tribes.

Thronghokiu urged the Yimkhiung community members living in Mokokchung to keep up with the good exemplary work by living together in harmony and in unity with all. Addressing the Yimkhiung people residing in Mokokchung, the special guest acknowledged the Yimkhiung citizens of Mokokchung for always being helpful in times of need when required as Mokokchung was the main town which connected them to the state capital. 

He encouraged the younger generation to look forward and work hard for the betterment of the society and individuality.

Thronghokiu challenged the Yimkhiung people residing in Mokokchung to take up greater roles and responsibility to produce eminent personalities among the Yimkhiungrus. The special guest also released the jubilee souvenir.

Meanwhile, short speeches were delivered by Ao Senden president Chubawati Longchar, ENPUM president K. Yansomong, advocate and ex-candidate 58 A/C Shamator-Chessore, H. Mukam and Yimkhiung Tribal Council (YTC) president, Throngso. During the programme, a special blessing prayer for the jubilee was initiated by the Eastern Nagaland Churches Fellowship (ENCF) and was led by secretary Ngako Chollen.
