CMO Mokokchung conducts training for MOs, HCWs

A training on omicron preparedness, Covid -19 vaccination/IPPI/IMI and RI Microplan was organised for Medical Officers (Mos) and Health Care Workers (HCWs) of Mokokchung district Wednesday at the Conference Hall of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung.

A press release by the department stated that at the training, deputy CMO Mokokchung, Dr. Aonungdok Tushi gave a power point presentation on key strategies of Covid -19 (omicron wave) wherein she reiterated that the state was in the third year of Covid and in the mid of impending third wave one should not be complacent.

He said that there was an increase in Covid cases in few districts of Nagaland in the last few days and warned that by the time omicron was detected, “it would have spread like wildfire”. 

“The only way to stay safe from Covid is to follow appropriate behaviours and to get vaccinated,” said Dr, Tushi. DPO CD-I Dr. Tiasunep encouraged the trainees to focus on vulnerable groups like 60 years  above and people with co-morbid conditions.  He stressed on the importance of testing Covid for one’s safety, for referral and for monitoring. He called upon the trainees to be more vigilant since delta was still prevalent with the impending omicron wave in the district.

DPO Dr.Ayangla Saku gave a power point presentation on the vaccination of 15-18 years and precautionary dose to HCWs, FLWs and above 60 years with co-morbid conditions. 

She said, Mokokchung district has also started the vaccination of first dose for 15-18 years and precautionary dose from January 10 at District Hospital and UPHC and that the vaccines would also be available at the PHCs and CHCs within this week. 

Dr.Saku also emphasized on preparing of microplan for vaccination of school children and also for school drop outs to open a session at their respective health units.

 While speaking on the immunization coverage of the district, Dr.Saku requested the health workers to track the drop outs and include them during the upcoming IMI which was to be conducted in the coming three months i.e., February to April 2022. She also informed that the next IPPI (0-5 years) will be held on January 23 and encouraged all health workers to give the polio drops without missing even a single child. The training was attended by senior medical officers, medical officers, DPM, DCM, BPMs, ASHA co-ordinators and IEC personnel.
