Cancel police commissioner’s transfer: DUCCF tells govt

Dimapur Urban Council Chairman Federation (DUCCF) has expressed deep displeasure at the proposed transfer of the Dimapur Police Commissioner, Limasunep Jamir, IPS and demanded immediate cancellation of the transfer.
A press release from DUCCF media cell stated that the proposed transfer within a year of his posting was uncalled for. DUCCF said Jamir was brought in at a time when the law and order situation was at its worst and the officer had proven “his mantle in delivering the goods”.
DUCCF was of the opinion that Dimapur, being the commercial hub, with a teeming population and critical law and order situations, needed a stable and experienced commissioner of police.
It said, now that Jamir had gained experience and built trust and confidence with the public and NGOs, transferring him after this short stint was a great loss to the public and the Dimapur police department.
Terming the transfer order as “immature”, the forum said that this action of the government was questionable.
DUCCF also expressed astonishment at the “unjustified shuffling and transfers” at the whim and fancy of the government, before the officer had completed the minimum required term, and also just before the elections. The forum said this move showed the vested interests of the ruling political party. “Sincere public officials must not be used as pawns in the dirty political game”, the press release said.
In this regard, DUCCF has urged the government to immediately cancel the transfer orders for Limasunep Jamir, and allow him to complete the minimum requisite term as the Commissioner of Police.
