Advisor, Department of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA) & Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NEPED), S. Pangnyu Phom, has called upon people extend support to the ongoing peace process for early solution.
According to DIPR report, speaking at the inaugural function of the Tapi Bridge on November 29, Pangnyu said government was committed to an early solution of the Naga Political Settlement, and so all NNPGs, NGOs and VCC and the public should extend cooperation to achieve the goal.
MLA, Thongwang Konyak, who also spoke at the inaugural programme, appreciated the DUDA and the cooperation extended by the villagers for timely completion of the bridge.
He urged the department to continue to support the people and the villages to extend their cooperation to the government agencies for more development.
EE, DUDA, Er. Sao Sangtam presented the technical report of the bridge. In his report, he pointed out that the 121 foot long single length bridge was completed in a span of nine months.
He said the bridge between Totok Chingkho Village and Choknyu Village in Mon district was constructed under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) by DUDA Department.
Principle secretary, DUDA, L. Kire, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Thavaseelan K, and president, Konyak Union, Manlip Konyak also spoke at the programme. Director, DUDA, K.S. AndenKonyak, NCS, chaired the programme.
The bridge will effectively connect more than 40 villages including Tobu areas and Tuensang District. It will also reduce the travelling time to Mon by more than three hours. Moreover the valley around the bridge which is a very fertile region will be benefitted greatly as the project provides the much needed linkage to Mon town.
