Nagaland University Students’ Union (NUSU) Lumami has informed that the union would wait for SIT report scheduled on November 30 on students’ scholarship issue to take further action.
In a press release NUSU Lumami Hqs, president, K. Chumseli, said failure to get the “desire result” the union would “take its own course of action”.
The release reminded that NUSU from all campuses organised candlelight protest seeking clarification from the concern department on late payment and of students’ scholarship and releasing of the same on installment basis.
In this regard NUSU said it sought clarification from the government on October 27 without any response and for which NU students organised candlelight protest on November 16, 18 and 22 at Lumami, Kohima and Dimapur (SETAM) campuses respectively.
With government of Nagaland not heeding to the plight of the students, the release said NUSU leaders met the director of higher education. It said the response of the department on students’ scholarship issue was “dismally negative, and is not likely to get this time”. NUSU termed the director’s justifications as “unsatisfactory”.
