DLSAs conduct various programmes across Nagaland

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) under Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) has been organising various programmes across the state.
TUENSANG: Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) organised essay competition on “child rights” on October 26 at Government Middle School, Tuensang Village.
Altogether 16 students participated in the competition. A. Yemtichoba, Thungti Yemjong and Changlemla of class VIII were adjudged first second and third respectively. Winners were given cash along with the certificates.
TDLSA also organised legal awareness seminar for the students where panel lawyer, Soted Anar, spoke on the right to education especially emphasising on free distribution of books, uniforms and mid-day meal to students. Retainer lawyer Yimtsusangla Chang highlighted the various laws like child marriage restraint act and prohibition of child labour.
Highlighting on prohibition of smoking, prohibition of ragging and protection of children from sexual offenses act, she further encouraged the students to focus more on education and avail the benefits of free and compulsory education. Altogether 136 students, 16 teaching, and non-teaching staffs participated in the awareness programme. Panel lawyer TDLSA Antimangyang Chang chaired the programme. 
Meanwhile, TDLSA also organised legal awareness seminar on tribal rights at Ngangpong village on October 29.
Judicial magistrate first class Tuensang and secretary TDLSA, N. Kano highlighted on the activities taken up by TDLSA in rendering free legal services to the poor and needy. 
Speaking on maintenance of senior citizens, child marriage restraint act and on domestic violence act 2005, Antimangyang Chang also encouraged the women folk to speak out and report the matter to the nearest police station or magistrate if they face any kind of domestic violence. She also spoke on motor vehicle act 1988.
Speaking on tribal rights, master trainer NSLSA, Cheliam Khiamniungan, highlighted on the various important points on free and compulsory education to the age of 6-14 years, various poverty alleviation schemes by various departments and welfare schemes especially on old age and widow pension, disability benefit schemes etc.
She also encouraged village council members, village education committee and the students’ body to check and focus more on the functioning of the educational institution, health care centers, jobs and livelihood as these are primary need but mostly neglected in the tribal areas.
Earlier, Yimtsusangla Chang, Retainer Lawyer, TDLSA chaired the programme and mentioned that under Nagaland building and other construction workers scheme, the registered members were entitled to various benefits such as insurance cover, maternity benefits, grants for purchasing tools, and scholarships for the children. Chairman Ngangpong village council Cheching Chang delivered vote of thanks. Participants from church, village council members, GBs, women organisation and students’ bodies attended the programme.      
WOKHA: Wokha District Legal Services Authority (WDLSA) organised an essay competition on “child rights” at Government High School Wokha Village on October 20.
Panel lawyer WDLSA Meribemo Lotha gave a brief highlight on child rights while panel lawyer WDLSA, David Ezung delivered a speech on the role and activities of WDLSA. First prize was bagged by Nzanrhoni Shitiri, second prize by Sungmo C Chang and third prize by Sukumo R Murry. Certificates and cash prize were awarded to the winners. Altogether 40 students participated in the competition.
Meanwhile, WDLSA also organised a legal awareness programme on tribal rights with village functionaries at Niroyo village on October 28.
SDO (C) Wokha, T. Lanusenla Longkumer, pointed out that we should not only talk about our rights but at the same time see that duties are also performed along with the rights and benefits availed. Panel Lawyer WDLSA, Renbonthung Tsanglao, spoke on poverty alleviation schemes applicable in the state and legal assistance for access to poverty alleviation schemes.
PLV WDLSA, Wobenthung Patton spoke on legal rights guaranteed to tribal people and panel lawyer WDLSA, David Eung ,spoke on role of legal services authorities in assisting tribal people in access to justice.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by retainer lawyer WDLSA Gracy Ezung, NJS judicial magistrate first class, and secretary WDLSA Seyielenui Mezhu gave an overview of WDLSA and its activities as well as topics to be covered by panel lawyers and PLVs for the programme, while village council Niroyo village said that such awareness programme would be highly beneficial for the villagers and thanked the WDLSA for organising the programme in the village. 
PEREN: Peren District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) in collaboration with district child protection unit Peren conducted legal awareness programme at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Jalukie Peren on October 28.
Speaking on juvenile justice act and anti ragging, retainer lawyer PDLSA, Asungbe, said that it was the constitutional right of every citizen under Article 22 of the constitution of India to be defended by legal practitioner of his choice. 
Earlier, superintendent OH Peren Nzwakheing Iheilung chaired the programme, POCSO ACT Italang, APP Peren, Chiheibe, house father OH Peren spoke on moral values, while vote of thanks was also delivered by PGT english Praveen Kumar.
PHEK: Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) conducted essay competition on the topic “child rights” with class 9 and 10 students of government high school Phek on October 28. Panel lawyer PDLSA Vethothi Vero and PLV PDLSA Diezekho Vadeo invigilated the essay competition. Altogether 28 students participated in the essay competition. Luo Venuh bagged the first position, Shekhoveto Hoshi second position, and Tsikhruvolu third position.
Meanwhile, PDLSA organised a legal awareness programme at Lozaphuhu village on October 28, where district and sessions judge and chairman PDLSA N Lonshithung Ezung spoke on motor vehicle act and right to information, retainer lawyer PDLSA Mamang Singson spoke on Nagaland village council act.
Earlier, panel lawyer Vethothi Vero chaired the programme and also spoke on legal services authority, lok adalat and social welfare scheme. Altogether 37 beneficiaries attended the programme.
MON: Mon District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) conducted essay writing competition on “child rights citizens” with high school students of Don Bosco School Mon on October 24.
Earlier, principal Don Bosco School Mon delivered vote of thanks, while first position for the competition was bagged by S. Hongeih, second by Wangtok and third by Among Wangnao. Altogether 61 students took part in the competition.
LONGLENG: Longleng District Legal Services Authority (LDLSA) organised an awareness programme on “tribal rights citizens” at community hall Yongnyah Village on October 28. 
The programme was chaired by Bonglei, PLV Yongnyah assistant public prosecutor Ahoshi spoke on village council act, retainer lawyer LDLSA Mane Phom spoke on tribal rights citizens and panel lawyer LDLSA Hamnyei Angh spoke on protection of women from domestic violence. Welcome address was delivered by chairman, village council Yongnyah and invocation by pastor Yongnyah Baptist Church.
