3rd Astro Turf Futsal tourney underway

The 3rd Astro Turf Futsal tournament organised by OLOGOC- One life, one goal, one chance Club got underway at Zasivi Futsal Arena, Jotsoma, here on Friday.
A total of 24 teams from across the State is participating in the tourney.
In the pre-quarter final matches on Friday, AG boys FC, Emoji FC, Team SS FC, Bull Dog FC, Khuzaka FC, Team Crew X FC, Adroit Boys FC and Marturia FC registered wins in their respective matches.
During the inaugural programme, chief patron of the event, Megosielie Punyü in his speech highlighted the importance of team building through cooperation and discipline and not just about winning the game.
He urged the teams to exhibit sportsmanship through their good conducts at the same time avoid unsporting behaviours or be aggressive towards their fellow players, opponents and game officials.
Punyü called on all the players to respect their opponents, have regard for referee decisions and match officials.
While expressing happiness at the rate of progress of the event, Punyü lauded the organisers for being able to successfully pull off the third edition of the tourney.
He pointed out that sporting events of such nature were growing steadily enabling young players creating platforms for upcoming sports enthusiasts.
Earlier, the inaugural was chaired by OLOGOC president Khriezotuo Miachieo.
The quarter finals will resume on March 12 from 10 a.m. onwards.
In this year’s edition, the pool prize is set at Rs. 45,000 along with sports merchandise and certificate for Player of the Tournament and Best Goal Keeper.
