Landslide triggered by incessant rain near Meriema village, between IG stadium and National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Kohima junction, on Monday morning has totally cut off the national highway-2 (Kohima-Wokha road).
According to Kohima traffic police, the landslide and sinking occurred in two places at the same spot affecting vehicular movement. However, the traffic has been diverted towards new secretariat via NIELIT junction.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer (NH) has advised travellers to take the detour through civil secretariat till the road was cleared. CE said the department has deployed the required machineries but was unable to clear it by late evening due to continuing mudslides.
