Kohima Educational Trust (KET) presented its annual scholarship award to 355 students including great grandchildren of war veterans, here at Heritage, on Friday.
In his speech, KET trustee, UK and Kohima Museum & Curator, Bob Cook encouraged the students to work hard and avail the opportunities and educational assistance which were provided to the young minds of the state.
The scholarship programme was one of the several projects managed by the Trust’s organisation based in Kohima- the Kohima Educational Society (KES), a charity organisation formed by a group of prominent Nagas.
KET scholar, M. Ethungbeni Nguliie acknowledged the sponsors for their work and said that they were privileged.
It may be mentioned that around 25 three-year scholarships are awarded to students of class VIII annually.
This opportunity was covered till class X however, it was informed that the scholarship would extend till class XII.
Earlier, welcome address was delivered by KES former chairman, Pheluofphelie Kesiezie while a traditional song was presented by Northfield School students.
It may be mentioned that the awards were presented in memory of veterans who battled alongside the British soldiers during the World War II and who lay buried with them in Kohima, as a debt to honour Naga people.
