Angami Students Union not to cooperate with present NSF team; asks govt to resolve NIDA issue by April 17

Angami Students Union (ASU) has decided to “not cooperate with the incumbent NSF team, until such time the union (ASU) retrieve its faith on the federation and the matter is widely put to rest.”
According to ASU president Bisevi Nakhro and general secretary Mhalevilie Medoze, the decision to not cooperate with NSF was because it (ASU) was “extremely perturbed by the biased stand of the Naga Students Federation (NSF)” over the federation’s stand on the doctors’ superannuation issue as reported in several local dailies on April 12.
Further, ASU also directed any Angami leaders, “participating/involving in NSF or its subordinate bodies, to withdraw their support until further notice, and thereof, the ASU will be constrained to be vigilant about their functionings.”
ASU cautioned that the union “shall not tolerate the state government’s attention on this issue, if it is dictated by any party, that advocates unfair proposition.”
ASU reminded that even as it had been championing the superannuation issue in line with the NSF in the past, it has reiterated that the case involving the demand of NIDA on the superannuation issue was “unique as compared to other service sectors” especially in the light of the declaration by prime minister Narendra Modi, “ to enhance the age of superannuation of medical doctors to 65 years on 26th May, 2016, followed by cabinet approval on 27th September, 2017 and amendment of the Fundamental Rules (Second Amendment) on 11th August 2018” and implementation of the age of superannuation for medical doctors by the rest of the states.
ASU said it had categorically asserted to the NSF “to examine this need through the 2nd federal assembly by tabling the issue, considering the requirement of more medical doctors to facilitate the number of doctors and also to help early commencement of medical colleges in Nagaland.”
However, ASU said that despite its appeal, the NSF had “blatantly taken a biased decision by remaining silent on Naga doctors of other Naga homeland states, who are already availing the age of superannuation by opposing the same extension for the state of Nagaland.”
ASU maintained it saw no logic in the NSF’s silence when the other Naga homeland states under the umbrella of NSF implemented the superannuation and availing it.
Further, ASU said recent press statements by NSF called for maintaining status quo but at the same time, giving space for superannuation, “if the existing superannuation policy is reviewed”.
According to ASU “this partial stand of the NSF, has directly jeopardized the Naga doctors of Nagaland” and for which it (ASU) cannot be a mute observer but ensure that an impartial stand was established for doctors in Nagaland.
ASU cautioned, that it was evident that the incumbent NSF team has lost sight to deliver justice to the Nagas and as such it (ASU) “cannot afford to fare together under such shallow leadership.”
The union also said it was aware that NIDA has called for a 3-day mass casual leave from April 18 to 20 over failure of the state government to resolve the issue within a year that was made on April 17,2021.
ASU has also appealed to the state government to resolve the issue by April 17, 2022 “as assured, so as to avoid the proposed confrontation from NIDA”.
ASU said failure to address the issue positively and effecting the mass casual leave, it (ASU) will “not remain silent” if any patients is/are victimised due to non-availability of doctors at government hospitals during the mass casual leave period and for which, the government along with opposing parties will be “held solely responsible for such casualties.”
