Around seven to eight shops were destroyed in a fire that broke out at New Field check gate area here Monday evening.
Officials from the fire department informed that five fire engines from Dimapur and one from Assam were pressed into action to douse the fire. They said that Rs. 10 lakh worth of goods were damaged in the fire, but there was no report of any casualty.
The officials suspected a short circuit may have caused the fire.
