Organs condemn alleged rape of minor girl

Various organisations have vehemently condemned the April 17 incident in Kohima where one Yankiuba Yimchunger allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl.
Lower Chandmari: Lower Chandmari colony panchayat and youth organization Kohima have expressed shock and strongly condemned the alleged rape.
In a condemnation note, the two organisations said such crime had no place in the society and the accused should be awarded the severest punishment. The organisations informed that they had jointly taken a stand to expel the accused from the colony with immediate effect. While acknowledging the physical and mental trauma faced by the victim caused by the incident would never be healed, they appealed to the authorities to expedite the matter and deliver justice at the earliest.
Further, the organisations expressed appreciation to all the concerned for timely intervention and appealed to the public to be vigilant in the future to avoid such incidents.
PWUD: Phekmi Welfare Union Dimapur (PWUD) has expressed shock over the rape of a minor girl.
PWUD stated that “this kind of barbaric and monstrous act cannot be tolerated and is not acceptable in a civilized society.” The union appealed to the law enforcing authorities to book the culprit under proper sections of law with most befitting punishment as per his crime and under non-bailable offence.
Further, PWUD expressed its sorrow and sympathy towards the victim and family and prayed that the Lord would give them grace and strength to overcome the trauma.
