KVK Peren organises two-day training

DIMAPUR

KVK Peren under ICAR Research Complex for NER, Jalukie, organised a two-day training programme on “Production technology of oilseeds and pulses under diversified cropping systems” on December 9 and 10 at Samziuram village for practicing farmers, with SMS, PBG, Dr. Patu K Zeliang, as training coordinator.
A press release by KVK Peren stated that training on cultivation practices of pulse crops such as rajma, rice bean and pigeon pea along with oilseed crop Toria and Soybean were given, while topics such as climatic and soil suitability, how to do field preparation, seed treatment, sowing and spacing maintained, factors for raising production like irrigation, nutrient management, weed and pest management along with plant protection measures were discussed in detail.
23 farmers from different SHGs including 14 farmwomen attended the programme.
Training was further conducted to diversify from sole paddy cultivation to pulse and oilseeds crops for increasing their income from rice fallows in Rabi season.
