Dimapur Municipal Councilvigil against cruelty to animals

Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) while cautioning against cruelty to animals said the council in coordination with State Animal Welfare Advisory Board Nagaland (SAWAB-N) and Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was keeping a strict vigil on any person (s) dealing in any inhumane manner to animals.
In a press release, DMC administrator, Albert Ezung said Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 under Section 11 (1) of the Act protects all animals whether domestic or wild, which requires them to be treated in a humane way during transportation, rearing or even during slaughter for meat purpose.
DMC said the Act strictly prohibits beating, kicking, overloading, torturing, causing unnecessary pain or suffering to any animal, conveying or carrying either in or upon any vehicle in such a manner to subject it to unnecessary pain or suffering.
Further, the council warned that the defaulters would be prosecuted as per provision of the Act.
