AH&VS department organises anti-rabbies vaccination camp

Veterinary Hospital Kohima, sponsored by directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS) organised a free anti-rabies vaccination camp at Lower Chandmari Colony, here on Friday. The camp was jointly carried out by Lower Chandmari Colony Panchayat and Youth Organisation.
During the camp, Dr Yhome gave a brief highlight on the risks of rabies and ways to prevent it.
She said in the unfortunate event of a dog bite, the dog owner should immediately seek the help of a veterinarian.
Dr Yhome also urged upon the pet owners to check on the diet of their pets by feeding them healthy foods and ensure hygiene, deworming and management of external parasites for at least six months and to take them for annual vaccination.
The panchayat and youth extended appreciation to the veterinary department and its staff for taking the initiative in ensuring safety of the public.
They also urged the department to come up with more events even in the days to come.
Altogether, 126 dogs were vaccinated at the camp.
