Nagaland Zeliang People’s Organisation (NZPO) executives have disowned the statement of NZPO president Kevipele Iheilung opposing halting Tening-Lekie road project, saying the issue was “never discussed, consulted nor meeting was called on this matter.”
In a press release, Gaigwang Hegeu, Hiadungbeu, Haibamko, Kubui Pame, Hauneu Zeliang and Kenlum Hemang, on behalf of the executive of NZPO, stated that NZPO president statement should, therefore, be considered as “purely his personal view” and not the view or decision of NZPO.
The executives said that NZPO cannot be taken for a ride “at the interest and behest of an individual.”
They said that for any issues pertaining to the organization, a meeting has to be called and decisions have to be taken on consensus.
Stating that NZPO was not a private property and cannot function as a self-style organization, the executives said that any individual whether it be president or whosoever cannot take decisions without a meeting or consultation.
The executives said they will support development on all fronts for the welfare of the community while understanding the sentiment of the affected area people.
However, they urged all responsible organisations not to interfere in the matter, which was sub judice.
They expressed belief that the court will deliver justice at the earliest so the work was executed as per the specification of the prescribed sanction.
Calling for the unity of the organizations, the executive said they will not allow anyone to function the organization at the cost of individual interest.
