Advisor to Power department, H. Tovihoto Ayemi on Sunday called for religious tolerance to ensure peaceful coexistence and prosperity society.
According to media cell of the advisor, Tovihoto said that peaceful co-existence by Christians with different religions in the state and particularly in Dimapur was a shining example of religious tolerance of the Christians and the people of Nagaland.
The advisor made the call while addressing a gathering of Hindu devotees at the inauguration of newly renovated temple premises of Shree Shree Santoshi Mata Mandir near Dimapur Railway Station this morning.
He said for years people from other religions have been living together in Dimapur and that there has never been a single recorded report of religion related incident.
He said Shree Shree Santoshi Mata Mandir established in 1952 in the heart of Dimapur city, was among many worship places of other religion that bear witness of religious tranquility that prevails in Nagaland.
Stating that every religion teaches about love, peace and harmony and therefore, each religion must have tolerance towards all religion beliefs, Tovihoto called for religious coexistence for peace and harmony.
Dwelling on the significance of ‘Santoshi’, Tovihoto encouraged the devotees of ‘Santoshi Mata’ to be harbingers of religious tolerance and to bear witness of the peaceful co-existence of different faiths in Nagaland.
He also encouraged the people to preach tolerance, mutual love and friendship among diverse sects, which was essential for peaceful co-existence and prosperity society.
