A student of St Joseph University was critically injured after a vehicle hit her near the college campus at Ikshe model village here around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old student identified as one Mapuienla Longkumer, a second semester student and hailing from Mokokchung, was battling for her life at the ICU of Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR), 4th Mile.
Arep, cousin of the victim, told Nagaland Post that a Scorpio was involved in the incident. She informed this reporter that Mapuienla’s condition was critical and that her parents had been informed of the incident and were on their way to Dimapur.
Limasenla, another cousin of the victim and her senior in the same college, said an eyewitness saw the vehicle run over Mapuienla at a junction near her college.
When contacted, PRO Dimapur police said the incident took place between 2:25 and 2:30 pm. An investigation was on to identify the culprit(s) as police were able to get the CCTV footages from nearby locations.
