Dr. Nicky graces Lower Agri Youth Organization silver jubilee

Correspondent

Lower Agri Youth Organization (LAYO) celebrated its silver jubilee by organising a programme at Penta Point, here on Wednesday.
The programme was graced by advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Neikiesalie Kire as special guest.
He congratulated LAYO for reaching a milestone and lauded the organisation for choosing an appropriate theme “Youth with Integrity”.
He urged them to live upto it especially in bringing about social changes like cleanliness and unity.
Dr. Nicky also said that people were slowly growing conscious on the need to maintain cleanliness. “It’s a good thing to become conscious but let us move beyond that and also get involved,” Dr Nicky said.
He reminded the gathering that while performing a job, they should not boast of their achievement but look for contentment in the work they do.
He commended the colony residents for displaying unity by organising the jubilee event which was not possible when there were differences. The advisor also stressed on the need for the people to start following a moderate lifestyle. On the employment front, Dr Nicky, urged the youth to not shy away from earning an honest living even if it may not be in huge returns.
He said there were many educated youths who were not ready to get employed if it was any lower than an officer’s post and would rather remain unemployed. He therefore reminded the youth to choose a life of integrity and honesty rather than indulging in corruption.
Earlier, Dr. Nicky also unveiled the jubilee monolith.
Speaking on the theme, Nagaland University professor, Dr GT Thong, said integrity was something upon which people build their trust and was needed to build a future.
He said an honest person should speak out the rights of the people since being silent defeats the purpose of being honest. In this regard, he advocated the need for clean elections and practice political integrity as there would be no room for development when a voter sell his or her their vote.
The jubilee ceremony was chaired by Narola Dangti and dedicatory and invocation was offered by Rev Dr Vevo Phesao while Lepzuk Imsong pronounced the jubilee blessings.
A tribute was paid to the late LAYO members while senior citizens of the colony were acknowledged.
Organising committee convenor, Atuo Kapfo delivered the welcome address, LAYO president Abel Assumi delivered the president’s address and LAWC chairman Neitho Kense delivered a short speech. LAWC GB Tsenchamo Khuvung performed an act of blessing while organising committee GS, Johnny Rengma gave the report and proposed the vote of thanks.
Special numbers were presented by Obed Kath and De Operattas Music Institute.
