Dimapur CSOs constitute PAC

Dimapur-based civil society organisations (CSOs), which attended the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) convened meeting at NCD office, Dimapur October 9, 2017, have resolved to set up a Public Action Committee (PAC) to deal with the issue of attempt on the life of L Doulo, proprietor M/S Kuda Cold Storage, and act as “screening/monitoring point to detect illegal immigrants.”
The committee, under the banner of NCD, would be headed by Vekhosayi Nyekha as convenor. The committee members would comprise of 19 tribal hoho/union presidents or his nominees, NWHD, GBs, DDCF, DUCCF, DCCI, BAN, EDBA and CTCC and representatives of selected NGOs.
In a press release, NCD president, T Bangerloba, and general secretary, Thsapongkyu Sangtam, said Monday’s meeting was attended by all the 19 tribes’ presidents, NWHD, DUCCF, GBs, DDCF, DCCI, EDBA, BAN and Chumukedima Business Association (CBA).
At the meeting, the house strongly condemned the attempt on the life of L Doulo on September 18, 2017 and the attack on a Naga family by a group of non-Naga youths at Chumukedima on September 21, 2017.
The house noted that in spite of several protests and appeals by public to all the factions against taxation and random extortion, there has been no let up and instead “more unwanted activities” were continuing and was turning from bad to worse.
Affirming that Nagas were tired of “torture, extortion and intimidation” on innocent public and businessman, mostly in the name of political movement, the house maintained that “such kind of unwanted activities should be condemned by all.”
Further, the meeting on behalf of public of Dimapur appealed to NSCN (K) authority to take appropriate action against the “culprit for their senseless act.” The house also resolved to “stand solidly” behind Western Chakhesang Hoho in the fight for justice.
Meanwhile, the house expressed concern over the “alarming incidents of anti-social activities occurring at regular intervals” and questioned why the state government has kept silent and failed to take action on ultimatum given by four business organisations (DCCI, BAN, EDBA and CTCC) which expired on October 5, 2017.
