Tokheho releases book on ‘gen’ Kaito

Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Tokheho Yepthomi released a book titled, “The World’s Youngest General”, authored by Dr Kuhoi Zhimomi and co-authored by Kekhaho Zhimomi here, on Saturday.
The book is a biographical history of ‘general’ Kaito Sukhai, who at the age of 23 was declared the ‘general commander-in-chief’ of the “Naga army”, Federal Government of Nagaland, on March 22, 1956.
Speaking at the programme, the MP stated that things have been moving and changing in the last seven decades of the Naga freedom struggle.
Although “Naga freedom struggle” has been on for almost seven decades, MP said Nagas still remained divided.
Pointing out that Nagas need to be honest and faithful in their approach as Christians, he urged upon the gathered, especially the younger generation to read the book in order to uphold the legacy of Kaito Sukhai and other leaders.
Delivering author’s note, Dr Kuhoi Zhimomi informed that the book contained biographical record of ‘general’ Kaito and that he along with his nephew Khekaho Zhimomi took around five years to complete the book.
He narrated that during Kaito’s trip to London in September 1962, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and “The Daily Herald” described him as “The World’s Youngest General” and “A Born General” and that “at the age of 29 years, Kaito would be the world’s youngest commander-in-chief”.
With “such confirmation at hand”, he said the book was titled, “The World’s Youngest General”.
Adding that the book was solely dedicated to Naga patriots who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Naga freedom movement, Dr Kuhoi said it was an effort to record Kaito’s legacy for generations to come.
The author assured that no part of the content was fabricated or overstated and that it was a serious presentation by first-hand living witness and documental evidences.
Further, he stated that the selfless sacrifice and crucial role played by Kaito was an inspiration and he would be remembered as a “brave legend” to Nagas in general and Sumis in particular.
The programme was chaired by Dr Wapangsenla Zaka, dedicatory prayer was offered by East Dimapur Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Purana Bazaar, senior pastor, Rev Dr ZK Rochill while Azalimi Lejo presented a song.
Later, vote of thanks was delivered by co-author, Khekaho Zhimomi and benediction was offered by Vikuto Zhimomi.
