Chessore students, forum flay DoSE

Joint Students’ Union of Chessore (JSUC) and Chessore Area Public Forum (CAPF) have denounced the utter lack of seriousness and empathy towards the grievances faced by Government High School, Chessore.
Lamenting the zero pass-out from the school in the HSLC exam whose results were declared recently by Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Chessore Village Students’ Union president Thrimho L, Chessore Town Students’ Union president Richard and Chessore Area Public Forum president Kiumukam in a joint statement outrightly condemned the irresponsible and lackadaisical attitude shown by the Education department towards the school as it had been forced to function without any Maths and Science teachers for many years.
Mentioning how they had been submitting various reminders and representations, as well as verbal enquiries, to the department for addressing the problems faced by the school time, the organisations accused the department of turning a deaf ear to all their pleas and entreaties.
According to the organisations, the Government High School, Chessore was the only government high school catering to educational needs of more than 28 villages. They said the genesis of the school’s problem began in 2011 when the incumbent Maths teacher was transferred without any reliever, which was followed by transfer on promotion of Science teacher without any reliever.
Further, one Science teacher retired soon after and, to make matters worse, the headmaster was also transferred on promotion, leaving the school entirely without adequate manpower and subject teachers. They said the denial and discrimination in the school was in direct contravention to the department’s very own vision of quality education and the constitutional rights of the students.
Keeping in mind the seriousness and gravity of the situation in which the poor students are at the receiving end, both the organisations asked the department fulfil their demands as mentioned in their numerous representations, failing which they warned of taking recourse to actions for which the department would be held solely responsible.
