Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in Nagaland have been urged to create awareness on importance of voluntary blood donation so that precious lives could be saved.
Observing “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day” under the theme “I save lives, I am a blood donor” on Sunday at blood bank, District Hospital Dimapur, Dr. T. Temsu, encouraged NGOs to motivate and encourage people to come forward to donate blood.
He said transfusing or donating blood or its components to the needy person has become very important part of the humanity in the modern health care system.
Dr. Temsu also called upon all the donors to work harder so as to reach out to other districts in Nagaland. He also advised them to create awareness on blood donation and do humanitarian service to the needy and poor
On the significance of the day, Dr. T. Temsu, said “National Voluntary Blood Donation Day” was observed every October 1 since 1975. He said the day aims to create awareness and educate people on the of the voluntary blood donation.
Earlier, short speeches were delivered by NOBD president, Renboni and medical superintendent, Dr.C.W.Tungoe.
