As called upon by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to begin a campaign, “Swachhata Hi Seva”, (cleanliness is service), from September 15 to October 2 – the third anniversary of the “Swaach Bharat Abhiyan” and Gandhi Jayanti, civil society organisations, schools, universities, government departments etc. in Nagaland have been organising “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign.
ICFAI University: ICFAI University Nagaland conducted a sanitation campaign in Sovima village and the adjoining area on September 28. The campaign initiated by ICFAI University vice chancellor, Dr. Charles P. Alexander was attended by 96 student volunteers and the NSS volunteers of the university. All the volunteers participated in the sanitation campaign and successfully completed the task.
IMDH, Mokokchung: Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH) Mokokchung organised “Swachhata Hi Seva” cleanliness drive on September 28 at the hospital premises.
Launching the cleanliness drive, mission director, Dr. Limaakum, he urged the public to dedicate oneself in keeping their household, schools and all public places and surroundings clean. Though “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign was only for a week, he said cleanliness should be a must throughout life.
The programme was attended by Dr. Kika Longkumer, deputy director, CMO, MS, deputy CMO, doctors, nurses and all the staffs.
PTC, PTYS Phek Town: Phek Town Council (PTC) along with Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) and district hospital management committee organised “Swachhta Hi Sewa” campaign on September 28 at Phek town.
In the programme, ADC Phek, Mhathung Thsunglao, brief the gathering on the purpose of the campaign. He also lauded PTYS for taking the initiative in keeping the town clean under the mission of operation clean green and for adopting the district hospital medical wards.
Hundreds of youth volunteers from 11 colonies carried out a mass social work at district hospital compound as part of the campaign.
Tuensang: NCC Cadets of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Tuensang, Government High School (GHS) Chaba, Government High School (GHS) Hakushang, Loyem Memorial High School and Akum Imlong School Tuensang conducted “cleanliness drive” as part of “Swaach Bharat Abhiyan” on September 27 at District Hospital Tuensang.
Altogether 250 NCC cadets participated at the cleanliness drive.
