NPF’s 8 Western Angami Assembly Constituency (WA-A/C) rank and file have vehemently condemned the statement made by Home minister, Y. Patton over the demise of Kiyanilie Peseyie, who was the MLA of 8 Western Angami A/C, during the Lao Ong Mo Festival of the Konyaks at Mon on September 29.
In a press note, 8 WA-A/C president Votso Peseyie said the party was flabbergasted by the callous and insensitive comment of Patton that following the demise of Kiyanilie Peseyie, his (Patton’s) group would emerge successful.
Votso Peseyie said Patton seemed to have “derived confidence, satisfaction and happiness by the demise of our beloved leader or he would not have made such a shocking declaration from a public platform, and that too, when the mortal remains of our beloved leader had been entered just the previous day.”
When we the living are still mourning over the passing away of the departed, Votso said it was “unacceptable, intolerable and unforgivable that someone should strut around deriving satisfaction at the death of another, and that too, at the demise of such a towering figure as our late leader Kiyanilie Peseyie.”
Expressing shock that Patton could be so “apathetic towards the unfortunate demise of a person who he had been closely associated with for almost 10 years in the government,” Votso said the apathy he had shown on September 29 at Mon spoke volumes about his pathetic character and personality.
“A self-confessed jail bird, prison terms do not seem to have endowed Patton with features of a decent human being,” the 8 WA-A/C president said.
Pointing out that since the statement was made in the presence of chief minister, TR Zeliang, the constituency NPF members have demanded that chief minister direct the Home minister “to tender a public apology to the bereaved family members and near and dear ones of late Kiyanilie Peseyie, or the chief minister himself apologize publicly on behalf of his Home minister.”
