Nagaland chief minister, TR Zeliang, has extended greetings to the Konyak people on the auspicious occasion of “Lao-ong Mo” festival.
In his message, the chief minister said that the festival was celebrated to mark the culmination of all agricultural activities and “as a propitiation and acknowledgement to the divine spirits for bountiful harvest.”
Zeliang also said that the festival bears a significant meaning in the life of the Konyak people since it was also celebrated to seek blessing for unifying the souls and minds of each individual and to commune with the divine beings to forecast about the future. The chief minister expressed hope that as the Konyak people prepare to celebrate the festival with pomp and gaiety, the Almighty God would bless them abundantly in all their activities and bring unity, peace and prosperity to the Konyak people in the days to come.
