DGP Nagaland, T. John Longkumer on Friday exhorted the students of Nagaland University (NU): SASRD Medziphema, to step out of the shadow of being followers and become leaders in their chosen professions.
In a press release, NU: SASRD Medziphema informed that the DGP was speaking at its 28th parting social at the multi-purpose hall as special guest.
Congratulating the outgoing students, Longkumer stressed on the importance of clarity of mind, purpose and ambition.
Citing examples from his past to illustrate his speech, he said that one should try to be a leader and not a follower and further urged upon the students to have their priorities straightened out because only then will they succeed in their chosen fields.
Pointing out that agriculture was the cornerstone of all civilisations, the DGP said as professionals in the field of agriculture, the students had many opportunities and should find their path and true calling by being open minded and ready to face any challenges instead of looking out for white collar jobs.
The programme was chaired by Student welfare in-charge, Prof. Pauline Alila, invocation was offered by EU: SASRD president Vezolo-ü, Dean, SASRD Prof. Akali Sema delivered the welcome address while speeches on behalf of outgoing students were given by Bansang (B.Sc. 4th year) and Rongsentula (M.Sc. 2nd year).
Adulu Kapu delivered a speech on behalf of remaining students, PVC NU: SASRD Prof. M. Aleminla Ao exhorted the gathering while vote of thanks was proposed by general secretary SU: SASRD Wenlang M.
Other highlights of the programme included special number by the EU choir and Avikürhe Ngouri. The programme was also attended by ADC Medziphema Imsongmeren, Hayithung Patton, 2nd OC, Police Medziphema and Lieutenant Colonel C H Jacob, 2nd officer commanding of 7th Assam Rifles, Medziphema.
