Churches, families and organisations across Nagaland celebrated Father’s Day on Sunday honouring fatherhood and the roles fathers play in the lives of their children.
SFXCC: St Francis Xavier Catholic Church celebrated Father’s Day cum Body and Blood of Jesus Christ at Church premises with director of Eden Gardens and Children’s Home (pioneer of Jesuits Mission in North East India), Reverend Father Raymond D’Souza SJ as main celebrant.
In the introductory, Fr Raymond D’Douza SJ said fathers are the torchbearer and an integral member of a family. He said God entrusted fathers to take care of their children and lead them in right path and in spiritual life.
The priest encouraged the gathered faithful to call out to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the time of necessity, difficulties and for the problems which could not able to share to men.
Fr Raymond D’Douza said the Eucharist offertory remembers the body and blood of Jesus Christ in his passion, death and resurrection. He said the body and blood turn in form of bread and wine to man and that those who eat and drink Jesus’ body and blood would live for ever. At the service, special number was presented by Kidima Catholic Youth Association, greetings from children and mothers were accorded. Prayer of the faithful was offered, Eucharist and enchanting gloria, felicitations followed by community meal were the highlights of a daylong celebration.
KCCJ: First Father’s Day was celebrated at Kuki Christian Church Jalukie Town under the aegis of Kuki Christian Khangthah (KCK) honouring and appreciating the roles played by fathers and father figures. KCC said during the service, the role of a father in their children’s lives was emphasised and the contribution of fathers to the society and their respective family was acknowledged.
