A memorable funeral service for late Zaku Zachariah

Rich tributes were paid to senior vice president of Naga People’s Front (NPF), late Zaku Zachariah Tsükrü who passed away early Sunday morning after a brief illness. Late Zaku Zachariah was born in the year 1947 and hailed from Viswema village under Kohima district. He was 70 and leaves behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a grandson.
Hundreds of mourners paid their last respect to the departed soul in a funeral service held at Kohima. Speaking at the funeral, NPF president and MLA, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu described late Zaku Zachariah as a “true nationalist” who worked for the welfare of Naga people since his student days and added that in his death Nagas have lost a “pillar in the society”. 
Dr. Shürhozelie also remembered the services rendered by late Zaku Zachariah to the Naga society and particularly to NPF. He said late Zachariah led NPF party by sharing his experiences and in his firm belief in the goodness of the Naga people and their future.
“He never failed the call of duty for his people, he stood tall among us and carried out his responsibilities honourably anytime and whenever duty called”, said Dr. Shürhozelie.
Others who spoke in the funeral service included NPF general secretary and MP (Rajya Sabha), KG Kenye, NPF Kohima division president, Gonei-u Sirie and Zheri Krotho from St. Joseph Catholic Church, Viswema and others.
The funeral service was led by Francis P Kiewhuo, Catechist, SFS Church  Kohima town, scripture reading by Vilasalie James, Catechist, SFS Church  Kohima town and brief history of Late Zaku was read out by Rükühol Kechü.
Born in 1947, Late Zaku hailed from Viswema village under Kohima district and  leaves behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a grandson. Late Zaku was one of the former Presidents of the Naga Students’ Federation  and later on, he took over the mantle of the influential tribal post of President of the Angami Public Organisation.
