Kevijau Women Organisation (KWO) Dimapur celebrated its silver jubilee at Kevijau council hall on the theme “Women for Change”, here, on Saturday.
Speaking at the programme, as special guest, Nagaland floor tiles, Kevijau village, managing director, Nibu Nagi said the colony during his childhood, was a paddy field however, he said the area today, was like a dream.
Encouraging the people to remain united, he said that the unity was reflected through contributions from colony members such as beautification of the colony.
In terms of economy, Nagi opined that it was high time for Nagas to “start working and earning for a sustainable life” rather than seeking government jobs.
He also encouraged the people to learn to save money and to spend it as per their income.
Pointing out that the economy of the state reflected the society, he encouraged all to work hard, stay dedicated and learn to contribute towards the society.
Speaking on the theme as guest of honour, district tuberculosis officer (DTO) Peren, Dr. Supongmenla Walling focused on “PDCA” which is “Plan, Do, Check and Act”.
Short speeches were also delivered by Kevijau Colony Council chairman, Nokchi Jamir who informed that the colony comprised of 1,400 households with a population of around 5,000.
Meanwhile, first KWO president, Krulhoubino Angami delivered a short speech, blessing and dedication prayer for KWO was offered by Kevijau Baptist Church, women chairman Kesovonuo while bible reading and invocation were offered by Nagamese Baptist Church, Kevijau pastor Lanuakum Ozukum.
Highlights of the programme included a minute of silence remembering the departed souls, special song was presented by Angami Kevijau Baptist Church in-charge Seyievino and Zevinino and releasing of jubilee souvenir by special guest.
The programme was chaired by KWO general secretary Alem Amenla Jamir and welcome address was delivered by KWO president R Atula Pongen.
Later, gratitude and appreciation were delivered by KWO executive member T Atula Jamir and thanksgiving prayer was offered by Mizpah Prayer Home, Signal Basti, Dimapur, counsellor Ningreishang Shimray.
