DSSU appeals for separate auto fare for students

Dimapur Sumi Students Union (DSSU) has appealed the district administration and Dimapur District Auto Driver’s Union (DDASU) to come out with a separate fare chart for students in uniform.
In a press note, DSSU president, Tovika K Chishi and general secretary, Steve Chophy, stated that the union has been receiving several complaints from several quarters with regard to fare concession for students.
The union stated that it has been a silent spectator to the auto drivers charging fares “according to their own wish” even for students in uniform as against the rates fixed for students in earlier notification by the concerned authority.
DSSU alleged that some drivers even refuse to take the students onboard if they do not pay the rates charged by them and has informed the auto drivers that the concession of students transportation fare has to be strictly adhered to.
DSSU has further informed that if there was any case of breach or denial of concession, it should be immediately reported to the union so that appropriate follow up action could be taken up with the concerned authority for any action deemed fit against the driver.
The union has also requested “Naga auto drivers” to be more humble in their dealings with passengers saying it was one of the many reasons why passengers opted for non- local auto drivers. It has also appealed to all concerned to support Naga auto drivers in the best interest of society.
Further, for any complaints students have been asked to call at 9089285588 (president) and 9774357991 (general secretary) with details of the auto-rickshaw.
