Aghunato Town Students’ Union (ATSU) has expressed dismay over the irregular functioning of treasury office (TO) at Aghunato town.
In a press release, ATSU president Hekavi Yeptho stated that the office which was established in the year 2017 was seen functioning two or three days in a month which has created problems for the public.
ATSU stated that pensioners from Aghunato town have been transferring pensions to either Zunheboto or Dimapur due to the “defected” TO at Aghunato.
Stating that employees from 10 different departments at Aghunato and 265 pensioners have been facing the problem since establishment of the TO, ATSU requested the state government to look into the matter urgently as many complaints have been put up by public.
Meanwhile, the union also highlighted the situation of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Aghunato which has been brought up in notice to the government “time and again.”
It said the school could not run smoothly due to the shortage of teachers.
ATSU also added that nine teachers have been retired in between 2016-2021, two teachers were transferred with post in 2021 and two teachers were transferred in 2022.
In this regard, the union requested the state government and the responsible department to look into the matter and take necessary action.
