State handloom expo underway in Dimapur

A 14-day state handloom expo organised by the Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC) Ltd. and sponsored by the office of the development commissioner (handloom) ministry of textiles got underway Wednesday at Urban Haat, Dimapur.
In a press release, NHHDC Ltd. managing director, Zakabo V Rotokha informed that the expo, inaugurated by Nagaland State Co-operative Bank (NSCB) Ltd., Dimapur, DEB, managing director, Abhijit Kumar, would culminate on August 30.
NHHDC Ltd. said the main aim and objective of the exhibition was to develop and promote marketing channels in domestic and export markets and bring about linkage between the two in a holistic and integrated manner.
It said the exhibition also serve to provide marketing opportunities to handloom workers with special focus on talented and uncovered weavers.
Further, Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. said 60 participants from Assam, Manipur, and from the various districts of the home state, Nagaland are exhibiting varieties of handloom products at the expo.
