Notun bosti residents repair road

Upset over deteriorating road conditions, the Notun Bosti Council (NBC) and Ao Khel of Notun Bosti separately took the initiative to fill potholes with sand gravels and stone chips within Notun bosti area Saturday.
The initiative was carried out through the voluntary contribution of the residents of Notun Bosti and with the assistance of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC). Notun bosti comprises of five khels namely Ao, Sema, Angami, Lotha and Zeliang. Expressing their grievances, Ao khel Notun Bosti members said it has become almost impossible for pedestrians, school children and even vehicles to commute during the monsoon. Aggrieved members also said that the residents have been facing numerous problems due to bad road over the past 15 years. They said that Notun bosti residents including tenants have been extending support by contributing in various ways.
NBC chairman, Jon Ezung, told Nagaland Post that the council, if required, would undertake such initiatives even in the days to come. He, however, lamented that though the government sanctioned Rs. 37.73 lakh last year for road development from Khermahal junction to Notun Bosti junction there was no sign of implementation so far.
In this regard, NBC and Ao khel have appealed to the responsible authority look into their grievances and repair the road before it deteriorates further.
