NTP Phek conducts anti-tobacco campaign at TMTHSS, Pfutsero

National Tobacco Program (NTP) Phek conducted anti-tobacco campaign at Tewelhi Medo Tyrannus Higher Secondary School (TMTHSS), Pfutsero on August 21 with District Nodal Officer NTCP Phek, Dr. Reyosalu Lase Vizo, as the resource person.
In an address, Dr. Reyosalu said that tobacco habit starts during adolescent and quoted Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) 2010 report which stated that 19.5% adolescents in the age group of 15-17 years consume tobacco.
Dr. Reyosalu said people who suffer from oral cancer tobacco related diseases at present were the result of tobacco consumption from their adolescent days.
Highlighting on the harmful effects of tobacco, Dr. Reyosalu asked the students not to pick up tobacco habits and also encouraged tobacco users to give up before it affects their health.
TMTHSS, principal, Mathew Rabha also exhorted the students and the program concluded with a benediction by TMTHSS, vice-principal, Wezazhi Mero.
