MGM College celebrated its first fresher’s day cum inaugural day with the first batch of the college on August 17 with Manager Bishop of MGM group of institutions, Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius.
In his speech, Dr. Joseph advised the students to be the torch – bearers, an ideal model for the coming generations. He said education should be value based and an emblem of spirituality.
Dr. Joseph also said that students should have a civic mind, patriotism, love for nature and develop strategies and technique on how to live a healthy life.
The function was attended by Rev. Geevaeghese Ramban, Rev. Fr. Joshi Vaeghese, Rev. Fr. Aju Varghese, Dr. Manoj Prabhakar, Rev. Fr. Shibu Varghese, the governing body of St. Thomas Mission Society, MGM church members, rank holders and toppers of MGM High school and Higher Secondary School and all the staff and faculty members of the institution.
Earlier, a welcome speech was given by the principal Rev. Fr. Shibu Varghese, introductory session was done by the BA first semester students and certificates were given for a previous seminar they attended in the college. Short felicitation address was also delivered by Rev. Geevarghese Ramaban, Dr. Manoj Prabhakar, Rev. Fr. Joshi Varghese. High school and Higher secondary rank holders and toppers were also felicitated along with the teachers.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by the vice principal, Durga Malakar. The programme was hosted by faculties of the college, Dr. Joseph and Washimongla Jamir.
