ENPO bans election campaigns in Eastern Nagaland

Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) has asked seven tribal bodies under it to ban any election-related campaign by any party and candidature declaration programme in their respective jurisdictions, besides carrying out massive public mobilisation programmes without any delay.
This follows a resolution of August 26, 2022 whereby it was decided that people of Eastern Nagaland would not participate in any election process unless their separate State Frontier Nagaland demand was fulfilled.
ENPO endorsed the seven tribal bodies– Chang Khulei Setshang, Khiamniungan Tribal Council, Konyak Union, Phom People’s Council, United Sangtam Likhum Pumji, Tikhir Tribal Council and Yimkhiung Tribal Council – to mobilise people at the grassroots for ensuring success of this move.
The resolution was adopted during the joint consultative meeting held with top leaders of Eastern Nagaland, Talk Team, seven tribal bodies and frontal organisations at Hotel Saramati here on August 26, 2022. This was stated in an ENPO press release.
