KSU seeks govt’s intervention to end blockade

Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) on behalf of Konyak civil societies has appealed to district administrations of Charaideo (Assam) and Mon to initiate remedial measures to end the economic blockade imposed on inter-state highway at Sonari by Sonari Truck Owner Union since August 2.
According to Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) president Loung-ai Wangnao and assistant general secretary Hamshen Konyak, the blockade has severely affected the supply of essential commodities.
It therefore, appealed to the administration and law enforcing agencies to apprehend the “extortionist or robbers” and award befitting action as per the law.  KSU also appealed to the people of Assam particularly to “brothers of border area” to comprehend the situation and solve amicably.
Further, KSU expressed dismay on the Sonari truck owner Union for taking law into their own hands by imposing economic blockade without any intimation to the district administration.  The union condemned the act of extortion and called for joint efforts to curb unlawful activities to restore the peaceful relationship, progress and development between Assam and Nagaland.
To avoid unwanted situation during such blockade, KSU urged upon state government to immediately arrange an alternative motor able road via Longleng-Mon and Tuensang-Mon to supply essential commodities.
