At the initiative of the Governor P.B. Acharya, Nitte University, Mangalore has invited five students each from Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh as “guests of Nitte University” to visit Mangalore and Udipi, which is the hometown of the governor, on September 2-9.
According to press note by PRO to Governor, selected students will be joining 20 students from T. Ramona College and Aizawl West College of Mizoram and that all expenses of the tour will be borne by Nitte University. PRO said the exchange programme is facilitated and coordinated by Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), Mumbai
Welcoming the gesture of the university, Acharya said that providing exposure opportunity to the students from strategic border area state like Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram would lay strong foundation for emotional and national integration.
The governor wished that other premier universities in different parts of the country also initiate such goodwill gesture for people of north east India.
