Students were urged to be optimistic and broaden their outlook towards learning to acquire quality education.
Addressing students at Oriental College Kohima fresher’s day celebration on Thursday at the college auditorium, director of higher education Nagaland, Kuholi Chishi, advised the student community to acquire quality education and expand their knowledge by learning through their teachers, seniors, experience, environment, friends and people and in a holistic manner.
She asked them to be optimistic in their approach and make use of every opportunity that comes through their way.
She also advised the students to realise what they want to achieve in life and work towards it adding that the students should aim for the highest and not be complacent with mere achievement. In his address, Oriental College Kohima, principal, Dr. Ketshukietuo Dzüvichü challenged the student community to cope up with the fast changing world by being smarter in their approach.
He encouraged the freshers to work harder to achieve their goals in life and reminded that being successful in the last exam was not the end of the road but that they have to move forward. The programme was led by assistant professor, Tumben Ngullie, invocation was said by assistant professor, Imtinaro Amri, welcome address was delivered by Oriental College Kohima Students Union, general secretary, Kuzoto Shijo GS, special song was presented by B.A. 5th semester, speech on behalf of freshers was delivered by Neivotsonuo Mezhü class 11 Arts, special presentation by Sabitri and friends while benediction was said by assistant professor Gwasole Tep.
In the second and third session, introductions of clubs like NSS, EU, Drama club, sports club, Rovers and Rangers, Red Ribbon club, Eco club and peace channels were done followed by entertainment programme. On the day, the college also launched a day care centre and gymnasium and also launched college website, www.orientalcollegekohima.in.
