Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Wednesday vowed to continue its effort for the welfare of the student community by taking up issues especially in the human resources departments like school education and higher education and technical education.
Addressing media persons at NSF office here, the federation president, Kesosül Christopher Ltu, said the new team has decided to continue its effort in streamlining the education system.
NSF president expressed concern over the poor results of government schools in examinations despite the best qualified teachers being recruited. He said that the team would physically verify the schools and the non performing school would be taken into account. Ltu disclosed that the team along with the village student bodies and village education committees would also verify whether the CSS schemes, free text books, uniforms and mid-day meal were properly implemented.
Further, the federation president stressed the need review marking system in higher education, saying it was found that there was no leniency in the marking system thus preventing Naga students from getting into premier institutes for further education.
In technical education, Ltu said seats must be given only to students who were Nagas by blood and not Nagas by adoption.
NSF has also lamented over poor infrastructure of the lone central university, Nagaland University. It said the university was close to attaining 25 years of establishment, but there was a vast gap in terms of development as compared to Tezpur University.
He also informed that the federation would be checking polytechnic colleges and NIT Chumukedima.
On timely declaration of results and other technical issues, NSF said it would take up the matter along with All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU).
Also, expressing deep concern over the Inner Line Permit (ILP), the NSF president said the state government has failed to properly implement the Eastern Bengal Regulation Act. He said that the matter would be taken up together with its federating units and district administration.

On Naga political issue, NSF said it has reiterated its demand to the Interlocutor R.N Ravi during his visit to Kohima. NSF said Ravi was urged to expedite the ongoing Naga political talks for a logical, honourable and acceptable solution, which should be inclusive.
