A play highlighting the issues faced by adolescent was organised by Zunheboto district health society (DHS) and Adolescent Reproductive Sexual Health (ARSH) on the topic “ill effect of drug abuse and anaemia and risk factors during the adolescent period” on July 20 and July 25 at North Point and South Point Colony, Zunheboto respectively. The play was performed by the students of Nito Theological College, Zunheboto.
In the programme, deputy chief medical officer (CMO) Zunheboto, Dr. Hoito Sema, shared about risk of pregnancy during adolescent and the importance of adolescent activity. He encouraged the youth to do away with unwanted elements and motivated the participants to live a healthy and exemplary life.
Dr. Hoito also sensitised the members on adolescent health, spiritual and mental well being, the physical and the emotional changes that happen during this period.
He encourage them to go for regular check up as it is the first step towards the safety and qualitative life and also to take out some quality time for oneself by spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Hoito encouraged the gathering to create awareness among the people for anaemia. He also said that changed lifestyle and stressful schedule have resulted in anaemia as a lifestyle disease.
He further urged the youth to avail the services provided at the ARSH clinics at District Hospital and CHCs. After the play, documentary on ARSH was shown and free IEC materials and bookmark were distributed.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by lecturer Tony K, Niholi, A/dean pronounced the invocation, scripture reading was delivered by Nitoyi, B.Th II and choreography was enacted by the B.Th III students. A talk on “PLWHA and our Society today” was shared by Viboli, B. Th II and benediction was pronounced by lecturer Lovi Zhimo.
