Principal District and Sessions Judge has convicted persons on July 25 and July 26 for rape and sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI).
Public prosecutor (PP), Kathu Rengma, told Nagaland Post that in 2015, district child protection officer (DCPO) lodged a complaint against one Athisü Mao (40) of Kaibi village, under Senapati district of Manipur, for raping his minor daughter. At the time of incident, the convict was residing at Kenuozou colony with his minor daughter. PP said the matter was taken up after the neighbour lodged complaint with the DCPO.
The court gave its verdict on July 26 and the victim was also compensated.
Also, the court on Wednesday convicted another person Macüo Rhutsu (54) of Mitelephe village, for raping a 12-year-old girl and sentenced to 10 years RI.
The case was registered by Southern Angami Women Organization (SAWO) in 2016.
