‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ held in Dimapur

As part of the ongoing statewide campaign, “Swachhata Hi Seva” (September 15–October 2) on the theme “visual cleanliness of vil lages”, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Dimapur division, in collaboration with Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) organised a “shramdaan” at Dimapur Railway Station, here, on Saturday.
During an awareness programme before the drive, DWSM, PHED (R) Division, Dimapur, district coordinator Imojungla Longkumer highlighted about the campaign.
DNSU AGS, Chuthuzhuni Chache urged upon the participants to give their efforts in keeping public places clean and also discouraged littering.
She also stressed on the importance of segregating wastes.
The awareness programme was chaired by DNSU deputy speaker Matsunginla and invocation was offered by Sorenbeni.
The programme ended with an anti-litter pledge administered by DNSU speaker Michael Kath and vote of thanks was proposed by PHED (U) division SDO, Chümoukedima, Er. Wati Thompson.
The mass cleanliness drive was also participated by executive engineer, Sanitation and WSSO, Er. Ichirang Zeliang.
It may be mentioned that the campaign is an initiative of the Swachh Bharat Mission and is conducted every year on different themes.
The campaign is aimed at generating community participation in achieving complete cleanliness of every village throughout the country and to instill in the minds of citizens that cleanliness is responsibility of every citizen.
Meanwhile, distribution of IEC pamphlets and shopping bags along with cleanliness drive at garbage vulnerable sites was also conducted at Tsithrongsge, Dhansiripar Block.
