Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) and Tuensang District legal Services Authority (TDLSA) organised separate programmes for children and DBs in Kohima and Tuensang.
KDLSA: Kohima District Legal Services Authority organised a program on child friendly legal services under NALSA Scheme 2015 at Government High School Rüsoma on Thursday.
Speaking on “POCSO” Protection of children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, panel lawyer KDLSA, Apila Sangtam, underlined the sexual offences which were recognized under POCSO Act and the procedure of reporting such cases when one became a victim.
Speaking on Cyber Crime, panel lawyer KDLSA, Nancy Lotha, pointed out the types of cyber crime and offence related to cyber crime under Information Technology Act.
She cautioned that it was very common for children between the age group of 13-18 years to be victimized through cyber crimes. Lotha also apprised that misuse of social networking could lead to cyber crimes and that one should be very careful when using social networking sites.
A gist of legal Services Authority was delivered by panel lawyer KDLSA, NulhuvoluRakho and panel lawyer KDLSA, Zakato Chishi spoke on an Introduction to Child Friendly Legal Services (NALSA Scheme 2015).
TDLSA: Tuensang District legal Services Authority organized one day training programme with the newly recruited Dobashis (DBs) under Tuensang district on July 19 at DC’s conference hall Tuensang. 43 DBs along with the head DB attended the programme.
Delivering welcome address, judicial magistrate first class, Tuensang and secretary TDLSA, N. Kano, highlighted the activities taken up by TDLSA and 24 legal aid clinics established in the entire district. He informed that the legal aid clinic was established for the welfare of the people of Tuensang.
In a short speech, deputy commissioner Tuensang, Jamithung Lotha, urged the DBs to follow fair and natural justice delivery system. He asked DBs not to involve or campaign for any political party and remain neutral in the coming general election as DBs were government agent.
Resource person, principal district & sessions’ judge and chairman TDLSA, Tuensang, Mayang Lima, spoke on the Rules for Administration of Justice and Police Act.
He said that the Rules for Administration of Justice and Police Act, clearly specified that heinous crimes like rape, murder, kidnapping etc. should be given to the regular court so that the justice was delivered according to provisions of law.
Mayang Lima also highlighted the hierarchy of the Legal Services Authority from Supreme Court, High Court and District Court to taluk level and how one can avail the benefits of legal services free of cost.
