Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General of Assam Rifles (IGAR)-North have been organising various programmes for different sections of the society across Nagaland.
15 AR: 15 Assam Rifles organized an awareness camp on drugs free Nagaland on July 15 at Junior High School, Shamatore village. The main motive of the camp was to provide knowledge about narcotics, drugs, tobacco, addiction and their negative impact on physical and mental health. Altogether 45 persons attended the camp.
32 AR: 32 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on the recruitment process for Army and Assam Rifles on July 15 at Samaguri village, Dimapur. During the event procedure of recruitment, eligibility criteria and service benefits applicable to armed forces were highlighted. The event was attended by 48 youths along with the village GB and chairman of Samaguri village.
7 AR: 7 Assam Rifles constructed and handed over a marketing shed to a specially abled girl from Kiphire Town on July 12. The shed was formally inaugurated by the Head GB of Kiphire Town and handed over to Muala Sangtam by Commandant 7 AR, Col Aditya Verma. Provision of marketing shed was to help the specially abled girl to become self reliant and enable to uplift her social life.
36 AR: 36 Assam Rifles organised a drawing and poster making competition on ‘drug free Nagaland’ on July 12 at Tening village, Peren district. The aim of the event was to spread awareness about ill effects of drug abuse, importance of protecting youth from such menace and to identify the drawing skills of budding talents. School students from various age groups participated in the competition and came out with interesting posters.
28 AR: 28 Assam Rifles organised poster cum leaflet campaign on AIDs in Hindu Basti on July 15 at Tseminyu, Kohima District. The programme included lecture and distribution of leaflet to villagers. A total of 50 villagers attended the programme.
36 AR: Six-week handicraft training programme at Henpu Handicraft Centre, Athibung was inaugurated on July 10 at Peren. The handicraft centre continues to promote ethnic handicraft and provide livelihood to the people of Athibung. The inauguration was attended by representatives of Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Zeliang Kuki Peoples Organisation (ZKPO), Kuki Students Organisation Nagaland (KSON), Athibung Town Committee, social workers, Gaon Budhas and 36. Altogether, 70 people attended the programme.
35 AR: 35 Assam Rifles conducted lecture on career guidance at Shalom School, Lungwa village on July 17. The students were briefed about various career opportunities. Capt Nikhil Dhiman emphasized upon the students to set goals and work with commitment and perseverance to attain the same. He also provided an insight into Armed Forces as a career. A total of 100 students & 7 teachers attended the lecture.
15 AR: 15 Assam Rifles organised a tree plantation drive at Shamatore town on July 18. A total of 30 saplings were planted during the plantation drive which was attended by 40 local youth and villagers.
