No electioneering activities: State BJP to partymen

Staff Reporter

State BJP president Temjen Imna Along on Monday directed all party office bearers at the State, district and mandal levels, karyakartas/karyakamis and party members at all levels “to desist from any form of lobbying/campaigning/declaration of candidature(s) in any manner whatsoever.”
In a notification issued on September 26, the State BJP president further said that the “seat-sharing formula and selection of candidatures” will be decided and declared by the party Central Election Committee in due course of time.
Along said that the notification has been necessitated in the interest of the party “to prevent propaganda and misconception and issues with Central directive for strict compliance until further notice.”
The party chief warned that any violation of the directive shall invite stern disciplinary action.
According to BJP party sources, the notification has been issued, as directed by the Central party high command, since many intending candidates have started carrying out electioneering activities even before the assembly constituencies/candidatures have been finalized.
