Training on water quality monitoring & surveillance

Training on water quality monitoring and surveillance was conducted for WATSAN committee members under Urban division PHED Dimapur district on July 13 at Urban division office. 
The training was organized by PHED Urban division under the aegis of WSSO PHED Nagaland Kohima. 
While delivering keynote address and the objective of IEC campaign and sanitation programme, executive engineer PHED Urban division, Er.P.Khetoi Sema spoke on the goal of Swachh Bharat Mission (G) wherein by 2019 an ODF to be declared in all districts and states of India.  He emphasized the WATSAN committee members the need to construct latrine in all households and also to keep the environment and village clean. 
SDO PHED Medziphema, Er. Ichirang Zeliang, while speaking on the topic ‘health and sanitation said that implementation of low-cost sanitation system, greater household involvement, proper management of solid and liquid waste, options for sanitary complexes for women, rural drainage systems, IEC and awareness building involvement of NGOs and local groups and involvement of WATSAN committee in village sanitation programme. 
Chemist, Roland Kikon spoke on the topic ‘water quality monitoring and surveillance’.  Kikon emphasized on the need of water sources to be tested and monitored periodically so as to check the quality of drinking water.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by SDO PHED Chumukedima, Er.Benjongtoshi, while vote of thanks was proposed by SDO PHED maintenance, Er.Merentoshi. The programme was attended by WATSAN committee members from villages under Urban division Dimapur.
